Optimising assembly processes with RFID OEM-converted wrap-around-cable labels.
Meeting stringent OEM specifications, we have designed a converted RFID label that securely wraps around the hood lifter cable which is located in the engine compartment. The hood lifter reduces harmful impacts and injuries to pedestrians and cyclists by automatically lifting the hood upon collision.
Developed in collaboration with a leading occupant safety manufacturer, the hood-lifter-cable RFID label integrates RFID technology to track and trace hood lifter components throughout the supply chain. By eliminating the need for costly on-metal tags, our cable label is an economical solution with increased print area for customisation, catering to Tier 1 and OEM considerations.
In response to evolving industry demands, OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and Tier 1 suppliers face challenges integrating RFID technology into safety-critical components such as the hood lifter.
Traditionally, manufacturers applied standard barcode labels directly to the hood lifter. However, with the shift towards RFID, limitations arose due to the presence of metal within the hood lifter.
